You've Been Given Discipline

We enjoy the fruits of discipline and adherence to laws daily. Others have created the world we move through safely every day by adhering to and embracing the laws of their chosen field. Look at the chair your sitting in. How could it support you were it not designed and built inside of the laws? The beauty of laws and discipline surround us if we were wise enough to see and appreciate them.

Why then do we complain when it applies to our own healthy bodies? We've been given a spirit of discipline. (For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline 2 Timothy 1:7)

Discipline is good. Laws are good. Remove the law of gravity and what happens? Remove the laws of nature and what happens? Every great athlete uses laws and disciplines of their chosen sport.

Every great chef uses the laws and disciplines of their craft. Every architect must use the laws of gravity and math to create structures that are safe and beautiful. Every gardener and farmer operates within the law of his or her profession. No good or productive thing was ever created, produced, and reproduced without operating inside of laws and disciplines. Operating inside the laws and disciplines opens the door to beauty and creativity. Creativity is not stifled by law. Rather it is supported with freedom to blossom. A farmer plants a seed. The law of nature demands he water the seed. If he chooses not to water the seed, the seed dies. If he waters the seed he reaps a bountiful harvest from that one seed. Embrace the law. Allow it to give us freedom and hope to create and become.
