3 You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.
I'm sure you'll agree it's difficult to maintain true peace of mind as Christian women with all of thoughts being pulled in so many directions. Keeping our mind stayed on Him won't happen if we don't set aside time to be with God. It's very much like our marriage relationship. We can hop out of bed and begin our day without even a word to our spouse. We can work all day and find only stressful interactions occurring all day. This causes distance and even rifts between us. How simple it would be to discipline ourselves to smile, say hello, give a hug and a kiss, to begin our day. This goes a long way to maintaining a happy home. The relationship we have with God will afford us so much more than this and it is even more difficult to maintain. We push God aside for the happenings of our day. When we push God aside, we are pushing aside, love, peace, joy, wisdom, understanding and more. All the things we need to prosper.
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. 3 John 1:2 KJV
We will prosper in health as we take time to be in the Word of God. Meditation on the word, through our day is not only momentarily helpful, it is life giving and feeds our souls. It is alive and life giving. More than edification, it gives energy to exist on. The Word gives us life the way food does, and we need it as often as we need food.
Perhaps we could use our meal and snack times to feed on the Word as well. We often say we meditate on the word with a good Christian song. And that's okay, but I really think God wants us to be with Him in a relationship. How would your spouse like it if you said, "I was thinking of you when I heard 'our' song today", but you never spent time with him? Better yet, how would you like it if he did that to you? We wouldn't. God wants us to want Him. He offers everything and we go everywhere else to get what we need.
Meditation on scripture reveals so much to us as we ruminate on it all day. Start with a verse in the morning. Allow it to sink in as you keep it in your mind throughout your day. Sit with it for a few minutes here and there to revive your spirit, like a quick pick me up snack.
Allow the scriptures to feed you and it will prosper you. I know I need to do this more. Join me in the wonderful discipline of starting our days with God and the Word. Intentionally reading and meditating on the Word. This discipline will be even better than a steady routine of a healthy diet and exercise. We will reap the rewards of more energy, more time, more joy, more peace, more clarity, health and prosperity in all areas of our lives. This is truly the best 'me time". The world wants us to believe it can give to us. No one but God can give the best that life has to offer.
(KJV) John 10: 10: The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
11: I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
